[00:00:00] Hello, welcome back to the Crescent Podcast. I’m your host, Leigh Ann Lindsey. Today’s guest is Jenn Cohen, and we are talking all about intuition and how Jenn works with professionals, individuals, businesses, companies to help cultivate a deeper sense of intuition. This feels like a really. Relevant conversation to have or just kind of kismet conversation to have, right as I’m about to, this is episode 1 99.
My 200th episode is coming out next week, and intuition has been a foundational piece of every facet of my business. Really even launching this podcast a few years ago, intuition was a core, core part of that. It has. Played such a role in the decisions I’ve made with my business, and so it was really fun [00:01:00] to get to talk with Jen more about.
What is it? How do we cultivate it? A question I asked her that I knew we would want some clarity on is, what is the difference between intuition and anxiety and how can we tell the difference? Jenn Cohen has always been fascinated by the power of intuition. Her journey into understanding this deeper intuitive space began in her early twenties after a personal experience.
Following the death of her father, which inspired her curiosity of how intuition would guide her life through her 27 year career in the entertainment industry. Collaborating with major studios like Dreamworks, IMAX, and Warner Media. Jenn discovered that some of the most impactful decisions often stemmed from intuition.
Her unique approach and insights not only set her apart, but also led to career advancements and recognition in a highly competitive field. After stepping away from the corporate world, Jenn embraced her calling as an intuitive consultant, applying her [00:02:00] skills to help both individuals and organizations.
Unlock their potential today. She empowers clients from in individuals to executives to entire teams with practical tools to gain clarity, recognize blind spots, and make decisions aligned with their goals. Jen’s programs and coaching sessions are designed to cultivate a stronger sense of purpose and enhance productivity, creativity, and connection in professional settings.
Jenn’s work supports individuals and companies alike creating pathways for growth by blending intuitive insights with actionable strategies. She’s dedicated to helping her clients break through self-imposed barriers, trust their inner voice, and achieve greater fulfillment in both personal and professional realms.
So with that, please enjoy this conversation with Jenn Cohen. Well, Jenn, welcome to the Crescent Podcast. Hi, it’s so nice to be here. As a little bit of backstory for the audience, we are [00:03:00] actually both a part of a networking group run by Sherry Salada, the Prosper Network. So we’ve been in each other’s orbit and circles for probably at least a year now, um, and have had some kind of like brief.
Chats and conversations, especially in speed networking. But there’s still a lot of your story, I don’t know. So I’m really excited to get to dive into this and, you know, get to spend an hour together really chatting about you, your business, intuition, all the special things. But I think a starting point, because I can’t help it, I love an origin story, is how did you get to where you’re at today?
What were some of the. Pivots the shifts. Is this where you knew you were gonna end up, or if not, how did you get here? Yeah. Um, well, us, us being here right now is such a path of intuitive nature as well. Just the decisions that, that we intuitively were drawn to and then, you know, things that you could never even possibly dream of that would be happening or [00:04:00] happening.
And I. Experience that right now. And the flow of of, of that, of who’s listening to that is just another example. Um, and it’s beautiful when you can take a moment just to recognize that. So again, thank you for having me on here. Mm-hmm. Um, I just love this part of the, this whole journey. Um, so. I spent 27 years in the entertainment industry.
Um, so this was definitely not, um, you know, something I went to school for and said, I wanna major in intuition. I wish that that was a possibility, but it wasn’t at the time. Um, and, um, I would say the origin story for, for really the, the moment that I understood that, um. An intuitive sense was there was, um, through the passing of my dad at a very sudden passing at the age of when I was 20 and I was just starting my junior year of [00:05:00] college and, um, got the phone call and went home.
And the night of his funeral, I was lying on his side of the bed and the entire, my parents’ room was in complete darkness. No light was on. And I was just kind of calling out to God at the time, and I was just like, just beside myself and said, what am I gonna do now? What am I gonna do now? And all of a sudden the bedside light just flashed on and off and on and off.
Oh my gosh. Yeah. And I just froze. Um. Mid cheek stop, um, and uh, and look over at the light, which is off again now. And I said, dad, dad, is that you? And it flashes on and off and on and off. And so yeah, in that moment it was, um, it was just. Um, a recognition that there’s, there’s so much more than we can see.
And, um, and those signs continued when, when I went back up to school, we’d walking, um, and I’d co go under streetlights and they would flash on and off and, um, go to the next [00:06:00] streetlight, walking with friends who didn’t notice it, you know, when I would notice it flash on and off in signals and signs throughout.
You know, in my life. Um, but during that grieving period, which lasted quite some time, but I got really stuck on the anger for grieving. And, um, and I, and in that anger, I didn’t really understand what I was doing at the time, but now I do. I I, I said to my dad, you know, since you leave left so early, and I don’t get to have all these milestones with you, I’m handing over my profession to you.
Which means I’m not gonna have to worry about what my job is, my career. I know that you’re always going to handle that for me, and I heard very clearly no problem. Yeah. Yeah. And um, and so, you know, when you’re in, you’re in college and there’s a lot of pressure to get your major and you know what you’re gonna be doing after.
So all of that kind of went away and, um, I freed up a lot of [00:07:00] my brain. In order to focus on other things. Hmm. Understanding that now that I was really allowing, um, my nervous system, I was allowing my, um, you know, right hemisphere of my brain just to kind of turn on more, more of that and, and less of the worry.
Um, it allowed me to. Look for signs, it allowed me to say, oh, you know, it doesn’t mean that I didn’t have problems, you know, or, or I shouldn’t say problems, but challenges with, with my career. It just meant that when I was stuck or needed a question or something happened at work, um, you know, I, I looked for those signs and I kind of surrendered that to my dad.
And after 27 years, um, in a fantastic career in. Um, it was time for me to leave and he very clearly told me that I was gonna become an intuitive and, and [00:08:00] so that, that leads me here today as a intuitive consultant and channel. Oh my gosh, that’s so beautiful. There is so as, even as you were talking, I was like, oh my gosh.
What would it be like to. Welcome in another into Your Life journey because I think as you were saying that, I just was like, gosh, I resonate with that feeling so much of just feeling like it’s all on me and I have these big dreams and I need to make all the right decisions and push hard enough and never stumble and.
That feeling of it’s all on me. And as you were talking, I just kind of had this epiphany of like, oh my gosh, what would it be like to welcome someone else in and, and just go, oh, I’m not the only one towing this wagon. There are others beyond sight and feeling that might want to be on this journey with me.
Exactly. Exactly. And, and I can tell you I’m closer now with my dad than I ever could have been on this physical [00:09:00] earth. Mm-hmm. Wants this job, you know? I love that. Yeah. Yeah. And so it was exactly that. I just felt like, oh, I have someone on my side that ha, that’s, um, you know, at a vantage point that’s so miraculous that can see the full picture.
Yeah, so you, I’m doing my PhD in depth psychology and it’s really very spiritual actually, and we, you know, we talk about the collective unconscious and just welcoming in. Guides and Psyche and anyone, and it’s really funny because even we have a, a lot of professors who are preparing us for the dissertation process and are saying like, you need to bring in your guides.
Yeah, yeah. They’re gonna help you. They want to be a part of this. And I am thinking of one professor in particular who’s like, oh no, you know, whoever it is, right? Like Geisha is such a part. Of my dissertation [00:10:00] journey. We were in communication all the time, or you know, this person or that person. Um, so it’s just really, really powerful and I’m starting to get more into that practice.
Yeah. Oh my gosh. It’s, it’s, it’s part of my daily practice now. I mean, in, in, and we’ve guides for everything. You know, there’s the biggies, like you were just mentioning. Mm-hmm. You know, parking space guides. You know, I always say I have parking angels. I swear my friends are like, you have parking angels.
’cause you always get the best spot. Right? So, so there’s guides for everything. There’s protecting, I mean, uh, there’s, there’s, there’s so many. Um, you know, I call on them even before we get on and just. I just, it’s, it’s, it’s kind of like your boardroom, it’s kind of your council that, that each person on this earth has.
And, uh, it’s an awareness. Yeah. And that team and that you can pull energy from synchronicities are also a really big [00:11:00] thing in depth psychology. And, um, and over the last, since I started the program, bees just keep coming to me and keep coming to me. Yeah. And so be the bee has become a bit of a symbol. I think it’s a bit of a guide in my life.
Uh, and there’s so much symbology and meaning to a bee. Yeah. That resonates so deeply with me. But I also think there’s, we’re already like so into the weeds of this. I’m gonna have to pull us back for a sec, but I just, I’ve also sort of thought about like, oh, I think there’s sometimes your, your. Core group of guides that are with you all along, even before you acknowledge them.
And then I think there’s the ones that kind of peek in and are just like, Hey, I’m just here to give you this little encouragement. I’m not one of your core team, but I’m here to pop in. And so anyways, uh, the B has become one of my, I feel like very core guides in a lot of ways as like an animal energy.
Yeah. Ladybugs [00:12:00] were big, um, with my dad as well, and, um, and, and they would come at such opportune times in big transition in my career. Big transitions with move, but, but it’s, it’s, it’s similar. It’s similar to how you’re describing the B. Yeah. Oh, it’s so powerful. Okay, so to pull us back though, an intuitive consultant, an intuitive coach, I think we need to just say, what does that mean for you and how you’re working with individuals?
What does this look like? Because I also think someone else who might. Take on that title of Intuitive Coach, it might mean something else entirely. So what does this look like for you? How are you working with people? How are you supporting them? And then I think we’re gonna get into some more of the specifics of intuition and tuning into it, refining it, sensing it, but.
Let’s start there. Yeah, yeah. No, we could go down so many different pathways with every single question, but an intuitive consultant name. For me, this is how I work, is that I help [00:13:00] people in businesses, professionals get clear on their intuition. Um, it’s a sixth sense that we all have. I like to actually think of it as our first sense, um, the first sense that we have when we come into this earth, and then it slowly gets, um, devalued.
Mm-hmm. Um, multiple reasons which. Again, we can go into later if we want. Um, but it’s a coming home and, um, and it’s a rediscovering and, uh, so when I’m working with clients, it can take on, um, a, a couple different forms. Um, uh, we can just begin to talk about, um. Uh, their intuition, how they, uh, define their intuition, how they have felt, their intuition before.
’cause we all have, um, and we can go very slowly, um, during those, um, during every single. Um, session that I have with someone I’m tuning into their higher self, I’m tuning into their intuition, intuitive, higher self I should say. [00:14:00] And I’m reading that energy. I’m reading, um, you know, I’m, I’m, I’m reading energy that of the words that they’re speaking, the words that they’re not speaking.
Um, I’m, uh, tuning into patterns that have formed their behavior and, uh, we’re really starting to dive into beliefs versus values. Mm-hmm. And, um, and, uh, there’s, there’s a language to intuition that, that is, is um, is so valuable to discover and to implement into, into people’s lives. And so it’s, it’s really honing into this skillset that a lot of us, um, we, we experience it, but we quickly push it away.
Mm-hmm. Space in order to really hone this sense so that it can guide us and support us, um, through decision making. And that decision making can be very small decisions to grant decisions. [00:15:00] Um, and, you know, I deal with, um. A lot of folks in conflict resolution. So being able to kind of go to that collective that, that you were talking about, where our intuition can pull from, um, we can better understand others around us that we might be having some challenges with as well.
Yeah, I, I already could speak to how intuition has. Played massive roles in my business, specifically. Not personal life for sure, but professional life. Absolutely. But for the audience who might be going, okay, what? What does this look like? How could this actually change the way I’m doing business? Or even if you’re not a business owner, you’re in a position of leadership.
I also think these even apply to. Leadership in your family, leadership in your community. It doesn’t necessarily just have to be a business owner, but what are some of the ways you see it shifting outcomes or experiences or success for your clients? [00:16:00] Sure. Um, for businesses especially, I always start with intentions and intentions.
Uh, many times when I’ll ask about intentions, um, folks will give me their goals. The goal, the goals are very ego based and, and totally we need our ego, not no knock on the ego. It’s when it gets out of balance that, that we throw ourselves off. Um, and so, uh, again, just starting with the intentions for the business, it’s a much higher vibration.
And I talk a lot in vibrations. I talk about a lot about in alignment. Um, so if those words scare you, you should ask yourself why. That’s also something that when, when I start working with people, if, if there’s language that makes them feel a little bit uneasy or, um, queasy, um, or scared, I. We, we explore that because in my, where I’m working with the person, there’s [00:17:00] nothing scary about this.
Mm-hmm. There’s nothing scary about it. We’re working in the present moment. Anytime that you’ve gone future or past, you’ve gotten out of your intuitive side of your brain, the right hemisphere, and you’ve left and gone into the critical mind. And so we can really start to unpack that. And so I, I ask for people to show up with an open heart.
Um, and you know, even some people will say, oh, that’s so corny. Um, and, and it’s just interesting to say, okay, let’s talk about that. Mm-hmm. And it’s, it’s, um, you know, a lot of, um, the beginning work is also, um, getting in tune with our body. And, you know, a lot of people are just out of tune with, with grounding and in their body, they’re in their head a lot.
Mm. And so. Providing this space, um, this safe space for, for the person to be heard. And a lot of what we do is just allow you space to talk. Um, and then, um. What it can look like is, while we’re talking, I’m actually [00:18:00] channeling, um, and I can just speak to you through questions and mm-hmm. Into, into that intuitive space.
And then if there are clients that are open to channeling, I, I’ll channel your higher self directly and that will come through. Um, and then, you know, if there’s any other support, I can, I can channel SOS that have crossed sos that are here. Um, animals, plants, all that, that stuff. But for the intuitive, um, I can, um, tap into your intuitive higher self to kind of have that come through so that you can hear it from yourself without actually.
You know, being able to, um, cognitively voice it. Mm-hmm. Which, which, um, you know, comes through with those, with, with people going, oh my gosh, you know, that’s, I was just thinking about that the other day. And those thoughts come through so quickly. The, the, the real key, it’s catching them. And there’s so much happening in our world, and there’s so much happening in [00:19:00] our lives that we can easily bypass them.
So our time just comes together, um, with, with, um, kind of a training of how to relate to your thoughts mm-hmm. And understand, um, and put yourself in, in a place that you can hear your intuition. For any of you who follow me on Instagram, you’ll probably have seen that a few weeks ago I did my first ProLon fast mimicking program and I was so blown away with how, how easy it was, how accessible it was.
The unbelievable results that I experienced that I had to share it here on the podcast. For those who aren’t aware, ProLon is a five day fast mimicking program. What blew me away was the impact because the magic of ProLon is that even though you’re eating, it has been scientifically developed to put your body into a fasting [00:20:00] state.
And when we’re in a fasting state, that is where so much magic happens in the cells. We start purging dead cells, that autophagy happens. There’s so much cleanup that happens when we’re in a fasting state, and the only other way to get into the state is to do a five day water fast, which is super inaccessible and hard.
That’s not something that I don’t think I would even ever do. But I also did the in-body scan at Ascent adaptation before doing the diet and after doing the diet, because I really wanted to measure results. And I was blown away. I lost six pounds just in that week. I lost 2% body fat. But the other markers that I was really excited to track were my inflammation went down significantly.
My phase angle went up significantly, which I’m gonna talk about a lot more because I decided I’m gonna record a short solo episode going super, super in depth into the ProLon fast mimicking program, and more in depth into my [00:21:00] results and what some of these measurements mean. Their website is packed with so many research articles and studies and information for anyone who wants to learn more. Yeah. And to that end, and I think we’ll probably get into this more in a bit, but relate to your thoughts, be in relationship with yourself, and also relate to your sensations, your, your body, the somatic experience you’re having, how that intuition feels for you, how it comes through for you.
For me, I, I feel it. Often comes through in image and visual versus thoughts and words. Mm-hmm. Um, which I’m sure we’ll get into, but I think to, to ground us in again, just for anyone who’s still kind of like, can you give, can you give like a specific example either [00:22:00] from a client’s story or your story of here’s where they were at, here’s what they were stuck on or having trouble with, and here’s how being able to attune to their intuition.
Shifted or helped them through or resolved that thing, there’s probably any number of words we could put on it. Sure. So I’ll go with, um, with the business one first, where there’s, um, an executive that was really hung up on their boss and their boss. Um, every time that we would meet, it was, um. It was a story around their boss and how their boss didn’t appreciate what they were doing.
And through our work together, and we still work together, but, but through this big, um, awareness, we were able to tap into their intuition and see that, um, they weren’t really recognizing how amazing their work. And we [00:23:00] started to notice, um, whenever we would talk there would be, um, almost there would be vernacular around wars.
Like this is gonna be a war zone. This is, I’m going on the battlefield and we started to tap into intuitively, okay. There was some issue here with, with wars and like, you know, and it could be ancestral, it, it could be family, it could be. It could be all of that, but I don’t wanna get too woo woo for everybody.
We talk about, we talk about generational trauma, at least a lot here. I work with that with my clients a lot. Yeah. So that’s, that’s a great way to put it. Generational trauma. And, and, um, she started to understand that she was, um, really looking at. Her workspace at a, as a war zone every time she stepped in onto into her office at her desk, anytime she [00:24:00] communicated with her boss, it was like the enemy.
And so her intuition was really trying to help her with breaking this pattern because it wasn’t. This boss, it was a boss from previous jobs. It, it had followed her. And that’s usually what, what, what our intuition’s telling us. They’re, they’re asking us to break a pattern that we’ve had mm-hmm. You know, for, for many, many, many years.
And so with that, um. You know, uh, they’ll, they’ll catch themselves now and they’re like, oh, I see what I’m doing. I see what I’m doing. I’m getting my nervous system into a complete war zone where I can’t hear my intuition, where I can’t hear that guidance that’s trying to slow me down, that’s trying to, to, to workshop this problem.
Nope, I’ve got my armor up and I’m, and I’m fighting. So that’s, that’s just one, one way in business. Um. And your intuition is amazing at pinpointing those patterns. Mm-hmm. Amazing. At pinpointing those, [00:25:00] um, you know, every day for me, like I was, I was doing a presentation, I’ll give myself as a good example. I was giving a presentation that, um, I, I needed just to sit my butt in the chair and do the presentation.
I just needed to, um, I could find every avenue not to do that. But my intention for my work, um, this presentation was going to put me in, in, in a good spot with that intention. It was gonna be a stepping stone, and I knew it was big and the self-sabotage that I was doing to myself, um, was to exercise. And that, that sounds very healthy and very, you know, healing, you know, is actually part of some of the practices that I do that help with my intuition.
Um, and so I could, I could very quickly, you know, um, not, do not work on the presentation and go for a run. Until one day I woke up and it was like my body at age, like 10 years and the right side of my [00:26:00] body was just like achy and like I still pushed myself to go and you know, I would like try and do like a step up on a hike and I’m like, oh my God, this is crazy.
I can’t even step up here. And I was working. Um. Funny enough with a trainer and, um, and they asked me, they said, well, what, what do you, what do you think this is? And this is a great example of when you’re out of intuition, um, your intuitive self. I could say, well, it could have been when I did this Pilates class.
It could have been when I lifted this weight. It could have been when I went for this run. It was the ping ponging back and forth. Maybe this, maybe that, maybe this. When he asked me that, and I remember we were doing a stretch and I was able to say, okay, you know, guides come in, let me just intuitive self, let me connect my, my head with my heart here.
And immediately I heard, get your ass in the chair and mark on the, on the presentation. And, and there was no question. Yeah, [00:27:00] there was no question. You know, when in knowing there’s no question attached. We give language. To knowing. Yeah, yeah. Oh, it’s just so powerful. And already there’s a number of different avenues we can go down.
Why, why do we lose touch with this? How do we get back in touch with this? Um, that’s the part I really wanna focus on a little bit, but I do wanna take a sec to say there is so to, to both of our points, there is so much inner knowing and then also outer knowing that we have access to call in. Yeah. And I also feel though, and there’s nuance to this, so I don’t want to be taken the wrong way.
We’re in an age of experts. Mm-hmm. Where we are, I think in some ways, receiving this social narrative of don’t trust yourself. Mm-hmm. You don’t know what it is, you don’t know how to interpret that. So you’ve gotta go to the expert to get their opinion and. To the point of [00:28:00] nuance. Sometimes that’s fair.
Sometimes I have, you know, an ache in my side and I might go to some extreme, like it’s appendicitis when really I just, you know, had a little too much whatever wine, and now it’s inflaming, whatever, you know. So yes, of course we do need the experts. We do need that external input from people in those fields and.
There is so much internal knowing available to us that I think for any number of different reasons. To your point, we’ve been trained to shut down. Yeah. Yeah. And that doesn’t mean we stop going to those experts, but that if we can tune into ourselves first and go, what is this about? Like the clarity might come through so quickly.
And, and even, you know, if you do go to that expert, it’s knowing that you’re going to an expert for information, and then you get to process that information and see how your body feels after you talk to. And that might be the clue or tip or something [00:29:00] that, that, that your intuition has like brought you to.
And then you go, oh, he said, or they said this. You know what, I know what that is. Mm-hmm. But it’s putting all of your trust into an external force because you are the one that has to receive that. Yeah. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worked with clients who were just like, the doctor recommended this and they are the top of the top, and it just didn’t sit well with me.
And sometimes they say, and I did, did it anyways, and I regret it. And sometimes they say I, I had to deny it until I was ready. And you might know I work with a lot of individuals experiencing cancer and chronic illness. So this is a big thing we are talking about a lot and I, maybe it’s controversial.
Really encourage my clients. We need to have peace. With the decisions we’re making, even if we might need to delay certain things to be able to get that peace. If you don’t have peace, it’s for a reason and maybe that reason is [00:30:00] just it’s unknown and we’re afraid, so then we process that and you have peace moving forward.
Or maybe you don’t have peace because there is a higher knowing that’s coming through saying, this isn’t for you, but we need to get clarity on that so that you can move forward with the most. You know, authentic alignment possible. But that’s super hard and it’s super, super hard, especially in, I think, medical cases when there is a lot of fearmongering and urgency that’s placed on you.
Absolutely. Abs. Absolutely. Okay, so pulling it back again, I, I actually think what I wanna spend more time on is how do we start to. I don’t even know if it’s turn up the dial on our intuition or turn down the noise of the outside world or just lean back in. But how do we start to get back into relationship?
Yeah. With our intuition. What are some of the, maybe like in very practical ways, things, people can start to do [00:31:00] practices, but there might even be other things of like, here’s what we need a little less of. Here’s what we need a little more of. Yeah. Yeah. Um, awareness is the first, that’s, you know, I, I’ve had people say, well, does everybody have intuition?
And everybody does. Every person has it. Like, like we were talking about in the beginning, it’s our first sense. Um, and intuition’s not something that we hunt down or try and discover. Um, we, we put ourselves in a place to receive it. Mm-hmm. High vibrational where you feel good, where you feel calm, where your nervous system is calm.
Those are going to be the places to receive it, and that’s what a relief. What a joy. To say, oh, okay, well where am I my happiest that I can receive this? A lot of people it’s driving with the windows down, you know, radio on, you know, like that is singing at the top of their lungs. That is a place where intuition is like, okay, they’re getting close.
They’re [00:32:00] getting close, they’re getting close. Boom. Okay. Drop in a thought, or you know, there’s gonna be a song on the radio that’s gonna hit them, that’s gonna bring up a memory that’s going to trigger, you know, um, an intuitive thought that’s gonna trigger an action. All of those things, um, mm-hmm.
Enhancing musicians, art, writing, singing. Um, for me it’s being nature. Um, I, I, I, I lived in Manhattan for 10 years prior to moving to the city that I’m in right now in California. And, um, I needed to understand the energy of Manhattan and the craziness of Manhattan. Um. And the amount of other people’s energy that I was soaking up as an empath and as, mm-hmm.
You know, um, and in my job even like where, where, what I was taking on of other people versus when I got to, um, my home that I had purchased five years before I moved [00:33:00] into it off of an intuitive hit. Um, where I could go, oh my gosh, I spend most of my day taking on other people’s energy and problems.
Mm-hmm. And so then I was around nature for me, and nature’s a big one for me, nature dancing. Um, I in, in exercise, um, I could understand my body at rest. And that’s the somatic that we were talking about. I’m like, oh, this feels different. This almost feels uncomfortable. Like where I don’t have 15 things on my to-do list, you know, to keep me distracted from what intuition is trying to help me out with.
And so it’s, it’s that awareness and that willingness that you are ready to listen. Mm-hmm. If you’re not, that’s okay. There might be a time in the future and you’re listening to this now and it’s prepar and it’s in [00:34:00] preparation of that. And then there you might be listening to this now and saying, oh my God, this is exactly what I need.
You know, it’s hitting me over the head. I’ve gotta do something about it. Yeah. And. You know, it’s, it’s looking at it from a different perspective. It’s finding those blind spots. Um, meditation has been a huge one for me. Um, and when people tell me that they can’t meditate, then they, I know that it’s a, um, that they’re meditating because that’s it.
The act of meditating is, is that disruption and then being able to, uh, see that dis those thoughts coming through and then allowing them to pass. So, um, I, you know, I talk with people. I’m like, just start a minute. I use Insight Timer ’cause I like, I like that app. But there’s tons of apps out there.
There’s also, um, meditative walks. You can meditate in nature, you can meditate by the ocean, you can, you know, there’s, there’s tons of ways to do that. Yoga is a great one as well. Um, and then, um, writing journaling is a big one as well. I, um, [00:35:00] automatic writing, um, is, is a fantastic way to, to tune into your intuition.
And if people aren’t familiar with that, it’s literally you can set a timer or um, uh, you could set a page limit of, I’m gonna write. Three pages in the journal, two pages in the journal, and you just start writing. And when you don’t, um, when you think that you can’t, that you have nothing to write, you just say, you just write, I have nothing to write.
I have nothing to write, I have nothing to write until you kind of dump that out. And then, you know, you’ll, you’ll just start writing. Um, you’ll just start writing from your intuitive state. Yeah. I feel like there’s two things I may be hearing in what you just said, and maybe you can help expand on them.
One part feels like a quieting of the external noise. Mm-hmm. And the distractions and the voices. So it’s maybe I’m going on a walk and instead of putting my headphones in and listening to a podcast, I’m in silence. You know, it’s turning off the tv. Or maybe to your point, it’s like [00:36:00] getting in that place of enlivening yourself.
Mm-hmm. But at some point it does seem like we kind of have to quiet a lot of the external noise ’cause it’s just too loud to hear. And then there’s this part of the inner attunement that’s happening that doesn’t always start with this like. Ping of knowing or ping of thoughts that comes through. And maybe that’s where sometimes people get hung up is they’re, they’re meditating and they’re like, nothing powerful is coming to me.
No epiphanies are surfacing. Um, but I also think a part of that is. To your point, if you’re trying to meditate and thoughts keep coming in and then you’re getting frustrated, I think the whole point of it is like, observe that frustration. Right? Where do I feel it? What does it feel like? If this frustration was gone, what would I be able to do?
You know? And just in engaging with what is coming up, even if it’s not what you expected or necessarily wanted. But can you speak to that [00:37:00] more of like. Quieting some things, turning up other things. Yeah, I love that. Quieting. Um, a lot of, I work with a lot of people that, um, watch the news. That’s a big one.
That’s a big one. And, um, and they grew up with parents that watched the news and that was, that was it. I actually worked within an organization, um, where CNN was, was part of my, my routine and my, um, professional world. And, um, at one point we, in, in the building. They had TVs on the elevator, in the elevators and in CNN would just be on.
Oh my God. So every, yeah, every time you walked in that elevator and, and I would notice from the time I walked in the elevator to the time I got out of the elevator, I’m like, holy, like. [00:38:00] Like I, I was so on edge and I was, and it felt defeated almost of like, well, what am I doing? Like, this world is a mess.
So you can, you can, you can, you can do this AB testing with yourself. Okay. Is this a habit of just turning on the news if it is, turn on music that day? Mm-hmm. You know. Um, people say, well, you’re just bearing your head in the sand. I’m, I’m not, I, I could tell you what’s going on in the world, maybe not to, um, the editorial of, of how you are experiencing it.
Mm-hmm. But I can tell you what, what’s happening. Yeah. And. And so it’s, it’s noticing these habits that we pick up. Um, also I deal with, um, with, with people that, that, um, are single and, you know, are having trouble, you know, um, reconciling, oh, well I should be married at this point with, with kids. [00:39:00] Okay. Why is that?
Why is that? Is that an urge that you want or is uh, or is that an expectation? And so that outside noise of you must be lonely, you must be difficult, you know, oh, no one wants to be around you, type of thing. So we. To we start to really address that external noise. Social media, huge. Um, you know, you can control who you follow on social media.
And so it’s looking at that list and saying, oh my God, I’m so angry after I look at that. Okay, well why are you infusing that into your life? Yeah, totally. Yeah. Um, I deal a lot with friendships that might have expired or, or they were, they were, what is it a reason? The season or lifetime something? Yeah.
Yeah. Or evolving. Yeah. Yeah. And so really, um, understanding what that friendship is right now and that external, and then of [00:40:00] course, uh, parents and, and family, um, we’ll take a look at that as well. But what I like to always stress and, um, I was just having this conversation with my brother yesterday and we were talking a little bit and, and, and I said, we’re I.
The biggest, the biggest aha moment for me was that I am always in control of how I can relate to something. Hmm. Even if there is an external factor I am always in control of, of how, of how I can decide to maneuver that. Now my body might, you know, send a bunch of adrenaline and like, I’m, I feel out of control for a moment, but when I am able to tune in to call in my intuitive state to see it from this higher vibration, I can create enough space that I can, um, look at it almost like it’s on a movie screen.
And I’m not an actor in the movie, but I’m an audience member looking at it and [00:41:00] being able to assess it. For any longtime listeners or followers on Instagram, you guys will know that I have loved and used herbal face food for probably over five years now. It is the one product in my life that I have been the most loyal to that I keep going back to year after year after year, because.
It’s so clean, but also so impactful. For those who are new to Herbal Face Food, their product is the most potent antioxidant, anti-aging skincare brand on the market period. They contain 25 of the world’s most powerful botanicals, including the top five, rarest, most expensive plant concentrates on the planet.
Thousands of times more potent than. Something like vitamin C, which is a really common antioxidant product on the market right now. Something I think is worth pointing out is it, it seemingly [00:42:00] has a high price tag, but the herbal face food serum is the only product I am using on my face. And so when you think about how many multiple, multiple products you’re using per month, I actually think when you choose herbal face food and it’s the only serum you have to use, you’re probably gonna be spending less on skincare overall, even though it seems like it has a higher price tag.

I’m even trying to think as I’m asking this question, how it shows up for me and. Often it’s just a knowing I can’t, I can’t describe, I don’t know if there’s like a super visceral physical sensation that comes with it.
Maybe a little bit of a gut sensation, but oftentimes it’s just a knowing that I can’t put any logical fact behind. [00:43:00] But there is just such a clear certainty. But I do wanna speak about that for a second. Yeah. Is there, is there always a somatic, physical, visceral sensation to intuition? Or maybe some people do, some people don’t.
Yeah, so, so people experience intuition diff uh, they, it’s, it’s different for everyone. So what I like to the practice that I do for that is, um, um, tell me how you came to the decision to, of what to eat for breakfast this morning. How about lunch? How about dinner? You know, did you, did you wake up craving corn, beef hash?
Probably not. You know, um, or, or, you know, maybe you did, or a, a, a steak, or, this happens a lot with, with pregnancy, with, with women who are pregnant. You know, it’s that intuitive knowing of, oh, you know what? I can’t eat that, but I am all about this route. Mm-hmm. But it, it can, it can be done every single day.
Every single day when you wake up, okay, what do I want? What do I want? Okay. Um, that’s a [00:44:00] knowing. Um. Then, um, there can be, um, and, and this is where it starts to get a, this is where it’s, it’s good to have some help, um, because there’s a knowing and then we can jump quickly to, um, you know, oh, I think I want something sweet, is kind of the knowing.
And then we can jump quickly to donut. Where it’s like, oh, well actually what your intuitive self is trying to say is maybe a fruit bowl or something like that. So again, it’s that association, but, but the knowing of like, you know, um, this is what my taste buds want mm-hmm. Is. Is more of the intuitive sense.
Um, clothing, when you pick out what to wear in the morning, again, you’re looking at the weather, whatever, that’s nature, that’s intuitive, whatever. But, but where your eye is drawn to, uh, I’m gonna wear this, I’m gonna wear that. That’s an intuitive knowing as well. Um, [00:45:00] uh, maybe, you know, um, where, how you, uh, decide to, um.
You know, take a route in, in the morning, you know, if you’ve got a couple different routes that you can take, you know, I intuitively know that I’m going to take that route. Um, people also like, uh, you know, I just had a feeling, um, to, to call or check in on that person. That’s how they know and that’s how they can begin to say.
That’s how that reaches me. That’s how, what my intuition feels like. So it’s those kind of like little things. Um, you know, you’ll be at the grocery store maybe, and you’re like, you get something like, you know, I just think I should buy this ingredient. I don’t know why. And then boom, you need it, you know, the next day or later that night, or a neighbor needs it or something like that.
But, but it’s, it’s those, those moments that. That you have already is, is going to be indicators of, of bigger moments of, of [00:46:00] tuning into your intuition. What it’s making me think of is intuition isn’t just here for the big life epiphanies and earth shattering things like it’s, it’s here to just, as we’ve said so many times, be in relationship with us.
Even if it’s something as simple as your intuition, being like, I know tomorrow you’re gonna get a hankering for this recipe, which is why I’m nudging you to buy this ingredient tonight, because I know tomorrow you’re gonna want it. Yeah, and that’s okay. Like that’s not life changing. And it’s also not life changing if you didn’t buy the ingredient and you can’t have that meal tomorrow.
But where that’s leading me is. This idea that if we ignore all the small everyday communications and yet we’re assuming that when the big communication needs to come through, we’re gonna be able to see it and spot it and hear it and receive it. And I think it actually needs to be the reverse practice, hearing, receiving, and honoring the small little communications that are happening [00:47:00] every day that’s gonna build that trust muscle, that ear to hear.
That body to feel so that when the bigger communication does come through or needs to come through, you’re so equipped to receive it. Yeah, it’s, it’s, it’s like any, um, you know, uh, exercise, you know, or building muscle. Um, or, you know, if you’re gonna run a marathon the first day, you’re not gonna go out there and run 26, you know, and a half miles.
You’re gonna start, you’re gonna train. So that’s, that’s exactly it. You’re gonna take it easy, small baby steps. Um, and, and that’s the beautiful thing about it. And that’s, that’s another reason, you know, that it’s, it’s not so scary. Yeah, and, and this is where I just think that that rigid logic and intellect gets in the way so much because you might get a little ping or a nudge to drive a different way to work, but your logic is like.
No, but this way’s the fastest. That’s why I take this way every [00:48:00] time. But you have no idea what that nudge could be about. Your intuition could be like, yeah, but I know that if you take this other route, there’s a new billboard that got put up, that when you drive by it and you see it, it’s gonna spark something in you.
And that might be more important than getting to work faster. Exactly. Exactly. And so it’s living in that flow of like things can come through. In ways we have no, no idea and no concept of Yeah, exactly. Exactly. And we’re so patterned and we’re so conditioned, um, that, that a lot of times, we’ll, we’ll say, ah, you know, I, I, I’m gonna take the, the regular way to work.
But once we start to, um, to acknowledge, oh, you know what, I’m having that pain. You know what? I’m just gonna try it. I’m just gonna try it today. Your intuitive, um, sense starts to reward you more and more because you saw that billboard and then that’s gonna trigger something for, you know, next for, for an action [00:49:00] next.
Whereas had you not gone that path. You wouldn’t have seen that billboard. So now your, your intuition’s going to try and come up with something else for you to, to do. And, and, and this’ll, you’re just kind of kicking the can down the road because intuition isn’t urgent. It doesn’t usually come across as urgent or loud, but it does repeat itself.
Mm-hmm. And so you decide, eh, I’m not gonna do it this, this, this morning. Okay. But acknowledge that and then. Yeah. You are making such a great point that I do wanna make sure we touch him before our time’s up, which is the difference between intuition and fear or intuition and anxiety. Yeah. Yeah. How do we know, I think people have a really hard time sensing because fear can feel, be really convincing.
Absolutely. Absolutely. So I always like to start with fear. If you’re in fear or anxiety, you’re in the, uh, you’re in the future or the past. You’re not in the present moment. So when you can [00:50:00] ground yourself in the present moment and say, right now, you know, am I about to get hit by a vehicle? You know, is there a lion about to attack me?
Like, where am I right now? I’m safe, I’m grounded. I can name three things. I can name three smells. I can, I can get myself into a space that’s just like, okay, I’m here. Nothing’s about to attack me right now. Um. When you are in that state, you can, uh, even just now saying that my shoulders dropped, my chest kind of opened up my jaw, would unc unclench, your body’s telling you.
Okay, thanks. Thank you. Thank you. Um, you’ve brought me back to a present moment where, where my intuitive state lives now I can do some practices, I can ask, I can receive. And when you’re in those fear spaces, um, you are, you’re recalling something that has happened. And you’re reliving it in your body. The shoulders go up, the jaw clenched, maybe get a headache.
Your gut [00:51:00] starts to just like rumble. And the, the, the gut brain access, you know, that’s, you know, your nerves are, are communicating with the brain. In, in that way, and then forget it. You’re, you’re out of it. You’re, you’re, you’ve thrown yourself into a situation that your body really feels is happening right now, and so it’ll start to get you out of that flight.
Fight to flight reflex and, um, worrying, same thing. It’s like I’m putting this story into my head. I’m, I’m, I’m now almost creating this scenario. And so again, starts in going into, okay, well then what am I gonna do? Then? What am I gonna do then what am I gonna do then? And so, um, in, in the, in the, um, example that I was talking about earlier, when with, with mine, with trying to figure out what.
What was happening with the, with my body, I would, my brain was ping pong. Well, was it this was it, that was it. Blah, blah, blah, blah. And I was going future. And I was going past and I was trying to figure it [00:52:00] out where, when I came back, excuse me, in the present moment it was, you know what you have to do.
Mm-hmm. And, and that’s it. And, and there’s not this like franticness of, oh my God, okay, now I’ve gotta jump in my car and sprint home and sit at the computer as fast as I possibly can. That knowing is there and you’re like, okay, I’m gonna start to move towards that. And I just think that’s really profound because I’m thinking of, for example, someone who.
Might wanna quit their job. Mm-hmm. And the difference between intuition and anxiety, you know, the intuition might be there of just that nudge of I might wanna start looking at jobs. Oh, I’m, I’m, I’m jumping on LinkedIn a lot. I’m looking through the anxiety is like, I need to send in my resignation tomorrow asap.
Right. Exactly. And that’s not to say we Right. It’s not all or nothing. It’s not to say that that. Anxiety that’s wanting you to quit your job doesn’t mean you’re not in a really misaligned job. Mm-hmm. But that [00:53:00] franticness, that urgency. Can we, to your point, settle the nervous system first so we can understand is this urgency really coming from a place of alignment and safety?
Maybe. Maybe the message beneath it is that I do need to find ano another job, but if I quit tomorrow, is that really gonna create the safety? My mind, body and spirit is looking for, or is that actually gonna put me in a worse position versus if I acknowledge the message, it’s time to find a new job and then start pursuing that from this really grounded place so that I can make that transition in a way that doesn’t sabotage me or put me in a place that’s worse off.
I love that you brought this up because, um, when I was making my decision to leave my career, I, I would say that it was a good two to three years where when I first had those, those beginning intuitive hits and, and how I knew it wasn’t time was [00:54:00] that, um. I would start, um, my brain would start saying, well, this, you know, the paycheck every week.
Okay, the golden handcuffs, oh, well it’s really good travel, and what am I gonna do? Oh, it’s so, would be so boring, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah. And it was just all of these, you know, thoughts that would come in and, and, and so. It wasn’t until I was meditating one day and, and I had been saying the phrase over and over, over and over, um, uh, to people, um, when talking about the leadership, um, that I was unfortunately experiencing at the time.
And again, it’s, it’s true for for many, for many. Um. People’s situation, but I said, when I talk, it’s like talking to walls. It’s like talking to a wall. Just, it, it, nothing was getting done. And it was, it was really dampening my spirit. And, um, I was in meditation probably, I’m gonna say three months before I gave my notice, and I saw a visual of myself and she looked me dead in [00:55:00] the eyes and she said, it’s like talking to a wall.
And when I knew that it was time to call up human resources and give my resignation, I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that it was, that was it. It was the right move because I had ping ponged through those two to three years, and I had got my body and my nervous system, like used to the idea.
And it was, had I done it before, I would still be kind of doing the what ifs. Mm-hmm. But the, and the hr, um, uh, rep said to me, are you sure? And in their voice it was like, this is dumb. Like this is not something you should be doing uhhuh. But external forces I had come to, oh, no, no, like this is sovereign within my body.
This is my integrity. This is [00:56:00] where I’m at. And there wasn’t a shadow of a doubt that this was the move. So again, taking that time and knowing your body and, but, but again, I would, I would see. The, the signs and it slowly allowed me to get to the point to pull the trigger and it was the perfect timing.
Mm-hmm. Yeah. I love that. I just think that’s really, really profound. The difference between, I think the biggest, there’s probably many, but anxiety and intuition is the urgency. Yeah. There’s not, there’s just a steadiness, a calm, a peace. Um, so I love that. Oh my gosh. Well, this has been phenomenal. Jenn.
Anything else that you feel is really important to talk about that I may have not, you know, taken us to, or you wanna cover? Oh my gosh, this went by quick is what I’ll say. I could talk to you forever. Um, I, I, I honestly think the most important thing to take away is, um, a awareness. It’s, it’s those baby steps.
[00:57:00] It’s that saying, I have intuition. I can call my intuition at any time. Um, I just need to put my myself in the place to receive it. That’s probably the most important. Um, and, and then listen, listen. Uh, you’re your, you’re your own best friend. You’re, you’ve known yourself the longest. Trust yourself.
There’s no outside guru that’s, that’s gonna be doing the work for you. There are people that can guide you, but, but again, your intuition is, is custom to yourself. And, um, and, and it’s here to, it, it’s here for greatness. It’s not here for, for smallness. Yeah. And it’s not hiding from you. It’s not like purposefully being evasive.
It is in communication all the time. We are just not listening. And to that end, like just all of us, I need to remind myself and kind of re to commit to this practice receiving and honoring it in the little ways, because also those ways aren’t very scary. Yeah. When that intuition comes through [00:58:00] to like call a friend.
Great. There’s no, there’s no stakes to that. So do it. Honor it and then that builds that trust, that safety, that open dialogue. Yeah. Yeah. That’s it. So just for the audience, where can they find you? Can you share the best way to get in contact with you or follow along? We’ll make sure it’s all linked in the show notes, but just so they can hear it too.
Um, website’s easiest Jenn with two Ns Coen, C-O-H-E-N, intuitive. And the same, same name for Instagram. I love it. We will make sure it’s linked. Well, Jenn, thank you so much. This has been fantastic. Thank you.
